Joseph Beauvais, aka Joseph "Sose" "Akwiran:ron" Beauvais, born on 20 Apr 1872 in Caughnawaga (Kahnawa:ke) Mohawk Community, Quebec, Canada. Parents: Pierre "Oniarakehte" Beauvais Jr. (Pierre's parents were: Pierre "Oniarakehte" Beauvais Sr. and Marie Magdeleine K8ihnon) and Marie "Saionataien" Montour. The birth is record at Ste. Francois Xavier du Sault Ste. Louis, Caughnawaga (Kahnawa:ke) Mohawk Community, Quebec, Canada. His marriage 04 Nov 1890 to Marie "Ioriwiioston" Kelly is also registered at the Church in the afore-said Mohawk Community. He had quite a number of children as well. He (Akwiranoron) died in early March 1913 in his Mohawk Community of Pneumonia, leaving his wife to tend the young children.
And it was Marie "Ioriwiioston" Kelly whose younger brother Michel "Otsitsiakenrat" Kelly married to Marguerite "Tsiohawison" Williams, daughter of Thomas "Thanenrishon" Williams and Cecile "Kaientison" Martin of Caughnawaga (Kahnawà:ke) Mohawk Community, Quebec, Canada who were in the "Indian Entertainment Industry" of the early 1900's.
Quite a bunch of inter-related Mohawks were employed by Louis O. Armstrong in the Hiawatha Indian Passion Play of the time, held in Desbarats, Ontario, and Petoskey, Michigan areas. A good book to review is Native Performers in Wild West Shows by Linda Scarangella McNenly and another book by Johnny Beauvais entitled "KAHNAWAKE" Aventures de BIG JOHN CANADIAN (mail från Douglas Lloyd Buchholz, 2013-03-17)
