diadem

- Object description
- It is composed of twenty-four oval, triple-nerved laeves of gold foil, arranged in three rows on either side of a central rosette consistning of a round boss encircled by two sets of petals, between six radiating triple-nerved leaves. The leaves and the rosettes are sewn with wires to a ribbon of thin gold sheet, the rounded ends of which are stamped with a design now mostly effaced by crushing, with the exception of two small Gorgoneia, set transversely and turned in opposite directions. The ends of the diadem are pierced for a string which passed round the back of the head and held the wreath in place above the forehead.
