- Object description
Astrologisk kalender av skuret trä. Båda sidor är försedda med inristad skrift, rutor och tecken. I ett hål i överkanten finns ett snöre med en träkrok. Enligt Generalkatalogen är det en tika.
"Javano-Balinese calender (Tika). The wooden counting board tika records all the days of a Javano-Balinese year in 30X7 columns. The counting begins with the top left box, moving down to the outer column. Then one proceeds to the second column, again progressing from top to bottom, and so on, until the bottom box of the 30th column is reached. All the important weeks and ritually significant constellations are marked. The tika is consulted when favourable days for events not fixed by the calender, such as tooth fillings, weddings, and cremations have to be calculated." (Ramseyer, Urs. 1977. s.137)
"The so called Javano-Balinese uku year has thirty individually named weeks of seven days, so 210 days in all. This period of time is binding for he scheduling of the more important, allBalinese cycles of feasts an sacrificial rituals (galungan, kuningan, pagerwesi) carried out in the course of worshipping the ancestors and appeasing the bhuta kala." (ramseyer, Urs. 1977. s.135)
