Object description

Skopa för vigvatten (toya tirtha), av kokosnötsskal och skaft av trä med mässingsbeslag. Kokosnötsskalet har en rund öppning högst upp, på sidorna finns fyra stiliserade fåglar inristade. Fåglarnas ögon har fyllts i med vit färg. På undersidan finns en blomma inristad. Längst ut på skaftet sitter en rund, röd glasbit.

Enligt kataloguppgift används sleven till fördelning av vigvatten till de bedjande och kallas tjanting. Tjanting skrives canting i modern indonesisk stavning. Vigvattnet har en viktig rituell roll med sin renande verkan. Vid tempelhögtider är beredningen av vigvatten ett av nyckelelementen, med vigvattnet ska sedan templet, deltagarna och det som ska offras renas.

Object description: Slev av cocosnöt, med långt skaft av trä Nöten är försedd med fyra inristade stiliserade fågelbader. Skaftet har nio prydnadsbeslag av mässing. Anv. till fördelning av vigvatten till de bedjande. Heter Tjanting. Längd 32' cm. (K. 172) Bali .
