Beige rundbottnad kruka/lergryta med marmorerad dekor. Krukan har en blankad yta.(HTB)

"Pots with marbled effects from Lower Congo. Several related peoples near the mouth of the River Congo make pots of this kind from an unusual pale yellow clay. The surface decoration is achievied by splashing a thick infusion of resinous vegetable matter on the pots while still hot so that it boils off unevenly. This form of decoration is peculiar to pottery. It is perhaps significant that body designs in this region are shared with basketry and woven mats (Laman, 1953:63 ur N. Barley, 1994)
