pottery vessel, decorated, pottery vessel

- Object description
- A vessel with an ovoid body, modelled rim, tapering to a narrow flat base and two tubular string-hole handles. Buff surface with an exterior decoration in maroon. Below the rim and in between the handles are twelve, respectively nine ¨flying flamingos¨. The lower body is occupied by groups of horizontal wavy lines. Furthermore, three wavy vertical lines run from below the rim, over and beyond the handles, in under the base and continues in the same fashion, in the reverse order, up on the other side, where they terminate below the rim. Additionally, on either side of one handle, there are nine and six, horizontal S-shaped figures. Adjacent to the other handle is only one row of nine reversed N-shaped figures. On top of the rim are two intermittent semi circular parallel wavy lines. Finally, there is also one scribbling in red ink on the lower body. It appears to spell out: N3
