MM 14131 :: artist's sketch, ostracon

Object description: Ostracon, slightly damaged, with irregularly shaped edges. The shape of the piece has no doubt inspired the artist in the choice of a motif. On a raised part, in the upper left hand corner, is the head of a snake, with the body subsequently stretching across the rest of the piece towards the right. The snake is outlined in thick, black lines and its body spotted, also in black. Two front legs are faintly outlined, whereas the hind legs are clearly marked.
