- Object description
- Flat-bottomed oinochoe. Lid: trefoil shaped with knob. Tree-foil mouth, tall, thin neck with ridge; broad band handle from mouth to shoulder; shoulder to upper body rounded; lower body cylindrical; wide, flat base. Hard, yellowish to greenish clay; semi-lustrous, yellowish to greenish slip; dark brown and purple paint. Incised decoration. Lid coated, surface somewhat flaky. Mouth and neck bear traces of dark brown paint; handle coated with diluted brown paint; shoulder panel: row of panthers and sirens facing centrally placed siren; filling ornaments: incised and blobby rosettes; body panel: row of panther, goats, grazing deer and lions facing central scene with antithetically placed, sitting griffins and man in knee-lauf position. Man wearing belt and sword. Filling ornaments: as above. Lower body encircled by broad band; base rays, partly faded.
