- Object description
Tripod. Lid: almost flat, slightly convex with flat knob. Hard, buff clay; semilustrous, dark buff slip; semilustrous black and matt, pinkish paint. Knob top: inscribed whirligig; side and underside of knob painted; inscribed rays emanating from knob; two pinkish concentric bands, in between these, two rows of dots; painted edge; bottom reserved.
Pyxis: straight, projecting rim; cylindrical body; rounded base on tripod. Hard, buff clay; matt, light buff slip; matt, black and reddish paint; incised decoration. On the inside, a small ring around the centre, broad band encircling floor; rim coated with reddish paint; upper body encircled by one broad and one thinner line; above each foot a decorated panel with two heraldically placed sirens with a swan/shell-like ornament/snake(?) between the sirens; filling ornaments: dots, blobby rosettes; three black and one reddish horizontal line on each foot.
