Object description

Lid: conical knob with almost flat top; low, conical lid; ledge on bottom. Buff clay; buff slip; semilustrous, red and black paint, misfired to orange at places. Three black bands and one broader, red band encircling top of knob; knob base encircled by black band; below this two, red bands between black bands, and zone with eleven groups of five vertical, wavy lines each; on the outermost part three red bands between black bands.

Box: thick, projecting rim with flat top; almost cylindrical, slightly concave body; tripod base; convex bottom with large, shallow central depression. Buff clay with pinkish tone; buff slip; semilustrous, red and black paint, misfired to orange or brown at places. Small, black circle on floor centre; black band at junction between floor and wall; black band on inside of rim; rim top and edge painted black; on body two broad bands - one black and one red - between thinner, black bands; on each foot upper zone with vertical lines and lower zone with three horizontal lines.
