Object description

Lid: high knob with with central protuberance on top, slanting sides; slightly convex lid; ledge on bottom; concavity in bottom centre with central nipple. Buff clay with pink tone; buff slip; matt, red and semilustrous, black paint, misfired to orange at one end of lid. Knob top red, except reserved central protuberance; underside of knob top and sides encircled by red bands; rays around base of knob; below this one broad, red band, a double row of dots and another red band on the outermost part.

Box: thick, everted rim with flat top; ridge encircling base of rim; depressed globular body; low, flaring ring base. Buff clay; buff slip; matt, red and semilustrous, black paint. Inside of rim painted; one black and one red band on rim top; black band around rim edge; on shoulder vertical tongues between black bands, then double row of dots within thin black bands and two broad, red bands; row of inverted sigmas between black bands; another double row of dots within thin, black bands and broad, red bands; below this one black and one red band; black base; on bottom four black bands of varying width.
