Acquisition

Most likely from the collection of King Carl XV. (Cf Hellström 1984, 50.) In records at Livrustkammaren (The Royal Armoury) a bronze helmet of Greek type is described. It bears an old inv. no. CXV 223 and is registered at The Royal Armoury as inv. no. LRK 28881. In 1887 it was deposited at the National Museum and in 1982 transferred to the Medelhavsmuseet.

Study Gallery

Description: Upstairs, in interaction with the Baghdad Cafe, opened in February 2009, the upper gallery. A rich variety of objects retrieved from the museum's storerooms, many of them shown for the first time. A series of booths filled to the brim with beautiful vases functions as a traditional study collection of ancient ceramics. Other booths highlights the thematic elements of the ancient world: the subject of everyday and festive, and images of gods, humans and animals. Conservation - Executed

Corrosion levelled out/removed, inscription varnished, surface painted with ethanol. May 1982 by K. Rasmussen- Eklund. The Technical Institute at the Central Board of National Antiquities.
