- Object description
- Plain rim; wide, very shallow bowl; P-shaped handles below rim; concave stem; slightly stepped disc base. Red clay; black glaze; ochre wash. On floor centre a man (Achilles), completely wrapped in a himation, is seated on a klismos; he holds a staff in his left hand; in the upper field to the right part of a suspended, circular shield is visible; the backrest and the back legs of the chair are shown in a perspective view; a meander border between reserved bands surrounds the tondo; inside of handles and handle panels reserved; reserved band on base top; reserved edge of base/band on underside; reserved centre on underside.
