- Object description
- The carved bone-object is divided in two parts: The lower half of the object consists of a 9 cm long plain part ending in a broken ring. The upper part consists of an 8 cm tall woman standing on a profiled base; her hair is bound with a knot on top of the head and two traits fall down on the shoulders on either side; the eyes, nose and breasts are clearly marked; the right arm is folded over the chest, touching the left over-arm; the left arm grasps the cloak which covers her lower body; the folds of the cloak are elegantly carved; beside her left leg is a small dolphin standing on its nose; the body and garment is also marked on the back, but in very low relief. All over the figure are traces of gold, so it seems fair to say that at least that half of the object was gilded.
