- Object description
- Relief of rectangular form; decoration in low relief on medium-grained, greyish-white marble with grey veins; greyish-brown patina; the back, bottom and left side are very roughly worked; remains of white plaster - prob. ancient - on the back and bottom; the scene on the relief depicts two men transferring wine from a large ship to a small boat, perhaps a river boat; the sails are furled on the large ship; one of the men is standing in the large ship holding an amphora in his hands, while the other man, in the small boat, empties the contents of another amphora into a large container.
