- Object description
- Fine black fabric with glossy surface; plastic and incised decoration; trefoil mouth with sieve; band handle from rim to shoulder; sharp angle between mouth and neck; neck tapering slightly upwards; piriform body; small conical ring base. Incised decoration: a palmette and geometrical pattern on handle; on neck a standing winged figure flanked by two sphinxes; animal frieze on shoulder: griffon and grazing deer antithetically placed with a branch in front of them; a palmette on either side of handle attachment; on body vertical lines between groups of horizontal lines; Etruscan inscription on lower body below which are rays down to the base; mouldings with corded decoration at the junctions between mouth and neck and neck and body.
