lamp

- Object description
- Moulded lamp; almond-shaped body, the upper part of which is modelled in a form of a pair of sandalled feet; the thongs pass between the big- and the second toe. The small, short, rounded nozzle extends from below the big toes, and has a wide wick-hole. The small filling-hole is pierced though a horizontal, flat area where the foot is cut. Behind the filling-hole is a vertical ornament of a cobra (upper part is damaged), flanked by its curving tails. No handle. The lamp stands on an undefined, flat base which follows the form of the soles. A groove determines the outer line of the base and there is also a dividing line which indicates the two soles. Brick-red clay and slip.
