medallion, pendant

- Object description
- The medallion concists of a central gold-disc and a silver frame with a hoop for suspension. On one side the disc bears a bust of Christ, executed in cloisonné enamel. The colours are not easily discernible. yellow, pale beige and blue are still vaguely visible. Christ is represented en face, with a nimbus, a beard and a garment with numerous folds. Above the right shoulder, the monogram of Christ is inserted. On the other side of the disc, there is a very small representation of an angel with a nimbus, wings, a not very carefully executed face and a long garment. He holds a cross in his extended right hand. The same enamel colours seem to be applicated here too. The silver frame is shaped as a nimbus. At four points on both sides a small silver segment is fastned onto it with five metal pegs. Into these segments, two of which are damaged, a Greek cross is cut.
