MM 1990:005 a+b :: spiral

Object description: Each consists of a gold-plated bronze wire spiralled three and a half turns and decorated with finials of gold. One of these has the form of a cylindrical collar adorned with a leaf pattern in filigree and surrounded by a female head with stern features and waved hair bound with a ribbon and wound into a stippled bun at the back. The other finial is capped by a six-petal rosette of plain wire punctuated with a globule. The heads are made in front and back halves of embossed gold sheet.
