MM 1969:002 :: medallion

Object description: Oval medellion with gold setting. At one side of the medallion an image of Europa and the bull in relief on gold sheet. Europa is hanging on to the bull’s neck with one hand, and is holding her mantle with the other. On the other side of the medallion a is Europa depicted in a recumbent position, the bull’s head and a tree in the background. On the sides of the medallion are filigree bines. The medallion is pierced for skewering.
