- Object description
- Amphoroid crater. Flat disc-base; piriform body; wide, concave neck; horizontal rim; handles from rim to shoulder; vertical, ridge on mid-handle; two string-hole projections on upper and lower handle. Hard, pinkish buff clay; matt, buff slip; lustrous orange red to black paint. Base and lower body painted; bands encircling lower- and mid-body; chariot scene on upper body and shoulder; two dotted chariots (FM 39.3) on either side; two men, in dotted dresses, in each chariot, hiding their arms; two horses drawing each chariot; sacral ivy (FM 12.41) inbetween horses legs; chevrons, parallel, horizontal strokes and dotted, concentric circles as filling ornaments; palmtress (FM 15.1) and mycenaean flower under handles; neck painted; running spirals (FM 46.54) on rim; handles painted, except from ridge; inside of neck painted.
