- Object description
- Ring-base. Almost biconical body. Short, wide, concave neck. Horizontal mouth. Triple ridged handles from rim to shoulder. Black band and four black lines encircling inside neck. Eight groups of ten to seventeen transverse strokes on rim. Edge of rim painted balck. Vertical row of chevrons (some of them red), framed by black panels and black quatrefoils, on either side of neck. On either side of shoulder, a triangle consisting of (from top) black lines, red band, black lines and a checquered centre. Above triangle on either side a small fringed black circle with central dot. This composition is framed by vertical lines framed by filled triangles and a vertical row of chevrons framed by panels. A red band, framed by six or seven black lines, encircling upper body. Broad black band encircling mid-body. ’Eight black lines encircling lower body. Base painted black. Vertical black zigzag line on middle handle-ridge. Outer handle-ridges painted red with black sides. Buff clay. Matt light buff slip. Matt red and greyish black paint.
