NM 0919/1922 :: sphero-conical vessel

Object description: Moulded sphero-conical body, rounded shoulder, thick neck. Dark greyish brown fabric on surface. Body is divided with plain incised lines into six panels stamped with scale pattern.

Object description: The function of this particular type of vessel is unknown, but many possible functions have been proposed, including fire-blowers (aeolipiles), grenades, flasks, lamps, loom-weights and architectural ornaments.
