NM 0920/1922 :: sphero-conical vessel

Object description: Spero-conical body, rounded shoulder, broken neck, heavy fabric, blackish on surface, covered with a black slip(?). Upper part of the body has intersecting almond-shaped applications and circular stamps. The stamps contain inscriptions.

Object description: The function of this particular type of vessel is unknown, but many possible functions have been proposed, including fire-blowers (aeolipiles), grenades, flasks, lamps, loom-weights and architectural ornaments.
