NM 0258/1939 :: Fragment, Bowl
- Object description
Fragment of large globular bowl, thick wall, squat ring base with angular foot, roughly made underside. Decoration: Interior: Sinisant vegetal motif in tondo, peonies (?) flowers on fine curving stems, the flowers are mostly white with a blue outline, but feature small zones of hatching and dots of blue; two prominent tear-shaped leaves, one infilled with rows of "Vs", the other almost pseudo-epigraphic curves, this leaf is surrounded by round appendages infilled with solid oblongs of blue; tondo encircled by two fine parallel blue bands, a space of ca 1.5cm, two more bands and then fragmentary vegetal scene involving various leaves infilled with V's and dots, where the leaves join the parallel bands large solid dots of blue are employed (possibly echoing Chinese heap and dot technique, NC). Exterior: thicker parallel blue bands furthest distance from base. Friable white stonepaste fabric.
