No remains on the tomb sketch are referred to as Ja, however a pile of shards are depicted by the eastern wall of the tomb on the sketch, marked with a J. It has then been concluded that this must at least be the general area where these remains were located. The remains, however, do not seem to entirely correlate with the tomb sketch. Nonetheless, most elements of the skeleton are represented in the material analysed, making an almost complete skeleton. The age estimation has been made primarily using the mandible, the dental phase indicating a child of merely about three years of age at death. The size of the bones as well as their unfused state also attest to the tender age of this individual.
In Kenyon’s report, burial J is referred to as the skeleton of an infant. This has prompted the conclusion that skeleton Ja rather than Jb (being a slightly older child) is the one referred to here. Associated with skeleton Ja is then a scarab (35), located by its left hand (Kenyon 1960:473). Hietanen, Linnea, p.28-29.
