Photo exhibition on the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb: (this was on display for the first time in 2016)

Autumn 1922 encountered archaeologist Howard Carter, a staircase down to the grave, the door of which was fitted with the royal seal of nekropolens. The tomb belonged to a then relatively unknown pharaoh, Tutankhamen. When Carter was able to see into the grave he must have said, "Yes, I see wonderful things!" The discovery marked the beginning of a great interest in Egypt over the world. The excavation was documented by the photographer Harry Burton, whose exciting images Medelhavsmuseet show in the fall.
