Object description

Penselvas (bitong) av elfenben, från Kina. Vasen är hexagonal och har på varannan panel inskuret mönster och på varannan inskurna tecken. Träsockeln sitter fast i vasen.

Enligt katalogkort: “Chinese ivory brush holder. Period: The flat irregular hexagonal sides decorated with alternate panels of lotus, peony and prunus carved in low relief, and of incised calligraphy. Dark polished patina. Measures: H. 135mm, D. 89mm. Purchased: Bequest of H.M. King Gustaf VI Adolf. No 2241. Dossier: Expo: Sweden 1977-78”.

Enligt HM-kort: Sexkantigt penselställ, med blommor i relief och inristade poem.

Material: Gjort av en elefantbete.

Närmare tidsbestämning: 1700-talets förra hälft.
