Enligt katalogkort: “Chinese lacquer box and cover. Period: Ming, 16th century. Description: Circular, with rounded sides, flat top and base, straight foot-rim. Black lacquer inlaid with mother-of-pearl. On cover a philosopher, followed by servant, walking along a riverbank. On the sides four-lobed panels with flower twigs and diaper pattern. Measures: H. 90mm D. 180mm. Purchased: Bequest of H.M. King Gustaf VI Adolf. No 2285. Dossier: B. Gyllensvärd: BMFEA 44/1972, Pl. 4.”

Enligt HM-kort: Cirkulär ask med rundade sidor och plant lock. Figur- och blomdekor.

Material: Trä täckt med svart lack utvändigt och inläggningar i pärlemor, invändigt guldpudrad.
