- Object description
Gruppfoto av uniformerade män vid Himmelens altare. Yuah Shi Kais (Yuan Shikai) offer på Jordligt berg (圜丘坛), Himmelens altare.

Thanks for your comment. We have tried to clarify that this is the rehearsals for the ceremony in 1913. Zumbrun was the official photographer at this ceremony according to New York Public Library: see digitalcollections.nypl.org/collections/955a5ce0-f4ff-0133-0c2e-00505686a51c. However, since the F.22642-22652 is said to be the rehearsals and the photos was sent by Bouillard it could be possible he is the photographer. That is why we list both.Sheldon2025-08-25 04:47
This set of photos(20642-20652) is Not the same as the photos introduced on the Siongchin's blog, it is the rehearsal of Yuan Shikai's Sacrifice to Heaven. There is no Yuan Shikai in this set of photos, but the man in the upper left corner of the photo (20642) looks like Georges Bouillard. Yes, the photos on the Siongchin's blog are indeed taken by Zumbrun, but they are not Coronation of Yuan Shikai, they are Yuan Shikai's Sacrifice to Heaven.
