Dealer in ethnographic works. Owner of Gallery Lemaire-de Vries that he founded around 1925 in The Hague and in Amsterdam. Sold objects from Indonesia to the British Museum (BM) in 1929 (see pricelist in 1929 correspondence).
Later sold items from Africa and Indonesia to the Museum in 1954-1970. (British Museum 2026)
