Object description

Motiv: Förfädersbilder av ormbunksstammar. Ha till uppgift att fördriva onda andar. States Etn. Mus., saml. Nathorst (sannolikt samling 1934.34 eller 1935.45). I eng. originaltexten till föremålet sägas figurerna vara gjord "of a palm".

Anteckning på pappersbit: " Igorot devil chasers or devil catchers. These are usually placed at the entrance to a rancheria (down (?) and offcines (?) along the rice paddies to keep the anitos (?) ( bad spirits) away. They are made, as you will notice of a palm" (Nathorst)"
