- Object description
Korgflaska.
Köpt.
JIcarilla Apache water jar of coiled willow material lined on the inside with pitch. These water bottles were until recently made in large quantities by the Apaches and
Pah-utes, and formerly were also made by the Navajos. They are water-tight and equipped with buckskin thongs and two handles for slinging on a tumpline. This ulitarian type is fast vanishing, and the present specimen, which was woven in 1932 and collected on the Jiracarilla Apache Reservation, is an unusually fin example.
