Framtiden är inte bara kopplad till det förflutna och nuet, utan också till makt.
Framtiden är en politisk arena. De val vi gör nu påverkar framtiden. Vem bestämmer
vad som är viktigt för framtiden? Vems bild av framtiden får vi oftast se? Framtiden
skapas av och genom motstridiga intressen och ojämlika resurser.
Över hela världen, inte minst bland urfolk och många ungdomar, ser vi känslor av
förlust. Vissa gruppers världar och framtider verkar försvinna. Samtidigt stärks
nätverk mellan folk över hela världen. Många kämpar tillsammans för allas framtid.
ALTERNATIVA FRAMTIDER
”Framtiden är oviss”, sägs det ibland. Men är det sant, för alla, överallt?
Framtiden lämnas över från en generation till nästa. De unga förväntas ta emot den,
anpassa sig och göra det bästa av den.
I stället för att tänka på framtiden, låt oss inspireras av idéer om olika framtider.
Runt om i världen finns det visdom, inspiration och konkreta förslag på olika sätt
att ta sig an tiden som kommer. Går tiden i en rak linje? Ligger framtiden framför
eller bakom oss? Vilken framtid vill du lämna över till nästa generation?

FUTURES AS POWER
The future is not only linked to the past and the present, but also to power.
The future is a political arena. The choices we make now affect the future.
Who decides what is important for the future? Whose picture of the future do
we most often see? The future is shaped by and through conflicting interests
and unequal resources.
Across the world, not least among indigenous peoples and many young people,
we see feelings of loss. The worlds and futures of some groups seem to be
disappearing. At the same time, networks between people across the world
are strengthening. Many are fighting together for everyone’s future.
ALTERNATIVE FUTURES
“No one knows what the future holds”, the saying goes. But is it true,
for everyone, everywhere? The future is handed down from one generation
to the next. Young people are expected to embrace it, adapt and make
the best of it.
Instead of thinking about the future, let’s be inspired by ideas of different futures.
Around the world, there is wisdom, inspiration and concrete suggestions for
different ways to deal with the times ahead. Does time go in a straight line?
Is the future ahead or behind us?
