1962.33.0007 :: kärl, karaff

Object description

13 cm hög karaff av lergods, helt med röd täckande dekor. Kärlet har globulär kropp på vilken synes märke efter en avbruten pip. Karaffens överdel träffar kärlkroppen i rät vinkel vilket hänför föremålet till äldre typ. Lothrop ("Coclé", vol. II, p. 96) påpekar för Sitio Conte

att karafftypen över huvud taget är mer allmänn i tidigare Coclé, men att de frånsett tidsperioden "are of two basic shapes: globular and angled. In the Early period the rounded bodies may be slighly subblobular and they normally join the neck at a sharp angle. In the Late period, however, body and neck meet in a gradual curve and the former is approximately spherical." Att märka att detta föremål saknar ring-bas. Frånsett detta faktum liksom helröda dekoren överensstämmer nr 7 i allmänn typ med det "carafe"- typexemplar som Lothrop, anf. arb., fig. 3, sid. 6, avbildar, vilket senare dock ej heller synes ha någon pip. Någon exakt lika karaff som denna nr 7 synes ej finnas med i Lothrop´s bok (gällande Sitio Conte-materialet). (katalogkort/originalbeskrivning)
