1962.33.0011 :: kärl, skål

Object description

6 cm hög skål av lergods i "red ware"-dekor. Diam. 12 cm, skålen vidare upptillän nedtill. Avfasad botten och en form av ringfot (mycket låg). I skålens botten finns en svart dekorstämpel, som är en enkel form av vad S. K. Lothrop i sin utredning om Coclé (vol. II, 1944, sid. 45

med hänvisning bl.a. till fig. 374 a.) a, kallar "Foot motiv". "One of the most commonly seen designs on plates of the Early period from the Sitio Conte consists of a series of feet attached to curved stem. Identification is based on the fact that various animals have identically shaped feet". I det av Lothrop som fig. 374 a' avbildade mönstret, "the claws consist of parallel lines so that the pattern suggests a comb or rake". Motivet kan därför också kallas "kam-liknande". En med bottenfiguren i nr 11 mycket lik framställning på röd- keramik-skålar från tidig Coclé-period förekommer i det här citerade arbetet av Lothrop, fig. 306 b. Jfr föremål 1962.33.0012.
