Object description

18 cm högt mångfärgat fågelkärl framställande en kungsgam ("king vulture"). Kärlets längd från stärt till näbbspets 27 cm. Står på fot. Kommer från samma fyndområdet som föremålen 1-2 i denna samling, men anträffades redan 1959. I brev av 21/8 1967 skriver

säljaren om detta kärl: "The pedestal king vulture you have pictures of so that the wing damage you already know about. It is otherwise a superb piece. It was dug by J. Dole, Chief Architect of the Panama Canal while working in the Juan Calderon site with me in 1959 and I later purchase it from him. It is one of two perfect (complete) examples known and I never thought I would sell it and I do so only because I am the owner of the other (which indidentally came from Veraguas, not Azuero)."
