Object description

Krabbhåv. Botten i nätmönster. Av växtmaterial. Två krysslagda, böjda käppar håller upp denna botten. Lina fastsatt där käpparna möts. Sidan i botten: 56 cm. Två stenar tjänstgör som sänke. I håven också ett knyte. Agnet sitter här, och till detta knyte leder ett växtrör som

inte är med här. Insamlaren såg en sådan krabbhåv i Fiji Museum, Suva, och bad Lerima Turaga som arbetade på museet att skaffa en sådan. Håven i Suvamuseet hade följande etikett: "The trap is suspended in water from a float, so that a vertical reed attached to the bait rises above the water. When this reed is agitated the fischerman knows that he has a crab in the trap. (katalogkort/originalbeskrivning)
