seal, seal impression

- Object description
- Cylinder seal. Chariot scene: eight-spoked wheel chariot with the flat carriage base stand with low curved front which may terminate in an (?) animal head. The chariot is drawn by quadrupeds (?) horses with long necks seemingly marked with manes, small bird-like heads and (?) short vertical tails (but these could be attachments on the pole). The pole-stay or pole seems to be indicated by a join line between the front section and the necks of the animals; the charioteer wears a ribbed skirt and wields a whip in the one hand and guides the animals with double reins. Before the carriage is a man running to left, dressed in belted (?) kilt and with head turned backwards. Beneath the horse part of a human head and a hand is raised up and before the horses a running figure wearing a belted kilt and carrying a bow and (?) arrow, (his head has been obliterated by a large chip – see above). Behind the carriage, a second scene consisting of a centrally placed spiral band, above which are two winged, crouching (?) sphinxes facing right and below a gazelle-like animal with long backswept horn, leaps to the left towards the carriage.
