Object description: Deep, round mouth with everted rim, concave profile; short neck with concave profile; shoulder rather sharply set off from body; rounded body; raised, vertical, grooved handle from rim to shoulder; low, flaring base. Buff clay; lustrous, black paint. Originally entirely painted (?), but no traces of paint on lower part o body; four incised lines encircling mid-body; brown line encircling lower body.

They come in many different shapes and forms, with variations in profile, mouth-type and handle-form. They functioned as pouring vessels for wine and have taken their name from the Greek words “oinos” (wine) and “cheo” (I pour). Miniature versions were often placed in children’s graves.
