- Object description
- Everted rim; flange for a lid on inside; short, wide neck; sloping shoulder; upright, pointed handles at shoulder; rounded body; short stem; moulded, flaring ring base. Red clay; black glaze; ochre wash; added, white paint. Reserved neck; elongated tongues on shoulder; handles black; on one side of body flying Eros, wearing a kekryphalos, a necklace, bracelets, a bandoleer and shoes, holding a phiale in his left hand and a white wreath in his left – added white marking details on wings, phiale and jewellery; in the upper field to the left a “window”, above the phiale an ivy leaf (?) and below a spray; on the opposite side a seated woman, wearing a chiton and bracelets, holding a phiale in her right hand and another object in her left; in the upper field two “windows” and a cluster of grapes – added white marking details in the scene; on both sides the figures are flanked by large flowers and tendrils; large palmettes beneath handles; wave pattern on lower body; stem, resting surface and underside reserved.
