Object description: Horizontal rim; wide, shallow bowl; thick, horizontal reflex handles at upper body; flaring base. Yellowish buff to pale brown clay; yellowish brown slip; lustrous, black to brown paint; added red. On floor centre a reserved medallion with an eight-armed octopus, surrounded by a broad, black and red band; above this a reserved zone with twelve dolphins, surrounded by a broad, black band; chevrons on rim top; outside of handles painted; on outside of bowl three broad bands; base painted.

Study Gallery

Description: Upstairs, in interaction with the Baghdad Cafe, opened in February 2009, the upper gallery. A rich variety of objects retrieved from the museum's storerooms, many of them shown for the first time.
