- Object description
Binding of reddish brown leather, front cover stamped mandorla with rests of gilding and a name is written with black ink in its’ upper part (Ridâ’ al-Nabîl?). Inner face of the upper cover has a stapt and show traces from worms and damp, the covers paperfilling is also visible.
Back cover, outside, stamped with a geometrical composition of fourpointed stars and hexagones. Inner side, arabesque pattern in lighter brown.
First page has an inscription (ref. comments). Frontispice, gilded frame, clouds in reserve filled with vegetal designs, 2a better finished than 1b. Paper is polished, some pages are colored in pale red. Pages adorned with gilded circular rosette medallions highlightened by red and blue dots. Circular gilded and geometrically ornamented medallions show the reader how far he has read saying, ruba’a (quarter), nusif (half) etc.
Calligraphy, clear, nice mamlûk naskhî, from the same hand. Black ink with red details. Head of chapters written in golden ink.
Colophon had gilded frame and half medallion.
