Description: Upstairs, in interaction with the Baghdad Cafe, opened in February 2009, the upper gallery. A rich variety of objects retrieved from the museum's storerooms, many of them shown for the first time. A series of booths filled to the brim with beautiful vases functions as a traditional study collection of ancient ceramics. Other booths highlights the thematic elements of the ancient world: the subject of everyday and festive, and images of gods, humans and animals. This text tells us how the Puzri¸s-Dagan official Ea-ili receives a number of very exclusive metal (and stone) objects, mainly weapons but also common tools as well as some more ceremonial objects traditionally connected to the cult and religion. The expensive and exceptional materials of some of the tools or objects show that they filled a symbolic/cultic or decorative role rather than a practical one.

The text belongs to the so-called treasure archive (“Schatzarchiv”) in Puzri¸s-Dagan that deals with precious metals and manufactured objects of these metals. According to W. Sallaberger, deliveries from other cities to the institution were always classified as mu-DU, and our text should therefore be considered a transaction within the internal administration of Puzri¸s-Dagan. The text is very important since the receiving official Ea-ili is not previously known from the archive. It is possible that he was the predecessor of Lugal-kuzu who received metal and objects from other Puzri¸s-Dagan official between ¯S 46 and ¯SS 8. We may assume that the objects in our text later would be further disbursed (ba-zi), most likely by the official DI.KU5-mi¸sar who disbursed (and received) different weapons made of precious materials between ¯S 44 and AS 7.
