Beskrivning: Konung av Sverige från 1950 - 1973.
Gustaf Vl Adolf har gjort stora insatser inom kulturlivet, med tyngdpunkt inom arkeologin, understött och finanierat forskning, arkeologiska fältarbeten, etc.
Gustaf Vl Adolf var kännare av äldre kinesisk konst och fornkunskap och innehade en egen stor gedigen och kvalitativt högtstående samling. Gustaf Vl Adolf har även medverkat vid tillkomsten av Stat.hist.mus:s stora och dyrbara östasiatiska samlingar.
Gustaf Vl Adolf har gjort värdefulla inköp av fornföremål för Nationalmuseum.
Sedan 1911 var Gustaf Vl Adolf ordf. i fören. Nationalmusei vänner. Konstsamlare, bl a av modern sv. konst, särskilt handteckningar och grafik. (Etnografiska museets personpost)
, Gustaf VI Adolf, Oscar Fredrik Wilhelm Olaf Gustaf Adolf, född 11 november 1882 på Stockholms slott i Stockholm, död 15 september 1973 på Helsingborgs lasarett i Helsingborg, Malmöhus län, var Sveriges kung från den 29 oktober 1950 och fram till sin död. Han var son till Gustaf V och Victoria av Baden och farfar till Carl XVI Gustaf. Han ingick äktenskap 1905 med den brittiska prinsessan Margaret (1882–1920) och gifte sig för andra gången 1923 med Louise Mountbatten (1889–1965).

John Sparks - Chinese works of art, London

Beskrivning: John Sparks, konsthandel i London, specalist på framför allt kinesiskt konst "Chinese Works of Art". Låg på 37a Duke Street, Manchester Square, London W1 (annons i Burlington Monograph, Chinese Art, 1925). Låg på 128 Mount Street, London W.1 från 1928.
Grundades på 1870-talet och fanns fram till ungefär 1990. Grundaren var John Sparks (1854-1914), en sjökapten som var verksam i Asien. Hans far levde i Bombay. John Sparks son Ernest Peter Sparks (1896-1970) drev verksamheten vidare efter faderns död (se The Antique Collector, Vol. VI, 1935-36, p.368). Från tidigt 1920-tal var firman verksam i Kina ca 6 månader per år. De hade regelbundet utställningar i London efter första världskriget, och även under 3 år i New York. 1926 fick de pris, "the Royal Warrant of Antiquary of Chinese Art to H.M. Queen Mary". Tillsammans med Bluetts var de en av de mest långvariga och respekterade konsthandlarna i London för kinesisk konst.
