Foreword
Qi Baishi (1864–1957) was born into a farming family in rural China and worked as a carpenter before becoming one of the country’s most celebrated artists of the twentieth century.
Drawing inspiration from everyday life and the traditions of Chinese culture, he created a distinctive artistic style that bridged the classical and the modern. His paintings often reflect memories of his hometown and the people, animals, and landscapes that surrounded him.
Today, Qi Baishi is best known as a painter. Yet in the Chinese scholarly tradition, an artist was rarely only a painter. Painting, poetry, calligraphy, and seal carving were regarded as the “Four Perfections” — artistic practices that complemented and enriched one another.
This exhibition presents the full breadth of Qi Baishi’s artistic world. Visitors will encounter the many forms of expression that shaped his work and made him one of China’s most beloved artists.
The exhibition features original artworks, animated projections, interactive installations, and archival materials. Together, they offer insight into both his artistic mastery and the curiosity, joy, and humanity that continue to resonate across generations and cultures.
We hope that each visitor will find a moment of beauty, reflection, and connection in the brushstrokes of a master whose work has travelled through more than a century to meet us today.

齐白石（1864–1957）从中国乡村的一名木匠成长为二十世纪中国最受推崇的艺术大师之一。他将民间生活的蓬勃生机与文人艺术的深厚修养融为一体，把日常生活的题材以及故乡的记忆带入中国传统艺术的殿堂，从而开创出一条连接古典传统与现代精神的独特艺术道路。
对于许多人而言，齐白石首先是一位画家。然而在中国文人传统中，艺术家很少仅仅是一位画家。诗、书、画、印共同构成了所谓的“四绝”——这一艺术理想由历代文人不断传承与发展。本次展览希望从更完整的视角呈现齐白石的艺术成就，引领观众走进那些共同塑造其独特艺术世界的多元艺术形式。
本次展览由北京画院与瑞典东方博物馆联合主办。展览汇集了齐白石原作、数字沉浸式影像、互动装置以及珍贵档案资料。通过这些不同的展示形式，我们希望观众不仅能够领略齐白石卓越的艺术造诣，也能够感受到他身上所体现的人性光辉、好奇精神与生活热情——这些品质跨越时间、代际与文化边界，至今仍与我们产生共鸣。
愿每一位观众都能在这位跨越百年时空而来的艺术大师的笔墨世界中，找到属于自己的那一份美感、思考与共鸣。
, Förord:
Qi Baishi (1864–1957), född i en bondfamilj på den kinesiska landsbygden och a
arebtade som snickare, blev en av Kinas mest hyllade konstnärer under 1900-talet.
Genom att förena folklivets kraft med den lärda traditionens förfining förde han in vardagens motiv och minnen från sin hembygd i konsten.
Därigenom skapade han ett eget uttryck mellan det klassiska arvet och det moderna.
För många är Qi Baishi främst känd som målare, men i den kinesiska lärda traditionen var konstnären sällan enbart målare.
Måleri, poesi, kalligrafi och sigillkonst bildade tillsammans de ”Fyra perfektionerna” – ett ideal som levt vidare genom generationer.
I denna utställning presenteras Qi Baishis konstnärskap i hela sin bredd.
Besökarna möter de olika uttrycksformer som tillsammans utgjorde hans unika konstvärld.
Här visas originalverk, animerade projektioner, interaktiva installationer och arkivmaterial. Genom dessa olika perspektiv kan besökarna upptäcka både hans konstnärliga mästerskap och den nyfikenhet, livsglädje och mänsklighet som fortfarande berör oss över generationer och kulturella gränser.
