- Object description
Enligt katalogkort: “Chinese rhinoceros wine cup. Period: Ming. Description: Dark brown horn, somewhat shading into paler brown. Carved in shape of a rocky landscape with a water-fall, wu-t’ung trees and pines, of which two trunks form the handle and branches grow over the lip onto inside, partly in open-work. Under handle a pavilion with a seated scholar, on opposite side two men walking. Interior with rocks, carved in low relief. Under base a circular waterpool. Measures: H. 98mm L. at lip 148mm; at base 63mm. Purchased: In London at Sotheby’s, 1960. £ 26-0-0. Bequest of H.M. King Gustaf VI Adolf. No 2302. Dossier: BMFEA 43, Pls 10 c+d, 11 a+b.
