Fragment of bag? Woolen warp rep, light brown with a plain border, 5 cm broad in geyish blue on the selvage side. Texture close and even.
Warp, firmly S-twined (brown and blue)
Weft, more closely S-twinad, brown.
Tightness of weave:
Warp, abt. 180 threads in 10 cm,
Weft, " 50 " " 10 cm.
Size: 37 x 25 cm.
The starting-edge has a trimming of light brown thick woolen yarn. This trimming is made in two different ways with a simple couching-stiches on one part and with buttonshole-stiches on the other. The end of the threads used for the buttonshole-stiches hangs free and is firmly S-twined as a cord. Two very coarse Z-twined threads abt. 18 cm. in length each are inserted in the trimming.
