Object description: A necked vessel with a broad upper body and a slender lower body which tapers to a narrow flat base. It has a modelled rim, oval mouth and two wavy ledge handles. Buff surface with an exterior decoration in maroon. Below the rim and in between the handles figure six and nine horizontal wavy lines. One handle has three vertical wavy lines on top of it. Below the handles, on the lower body are five bands of six horizontal wavy lines. Three vertical wavy lines abut the last in a group of horizontal wavy lines.

Ett kärl med hals och en bred övre kropp och en smal nedre kropp som avsmalnar mot en smal, platt botten. Det har en modellerad kant, oval mun och två vågiga hyllartade handtag. Blekgul yta med en yttre dekoration i mörkrött. Under kanten och emellan handtagen finns sex och nio horisontella våglinjer. Ett handtag har tre vertikala linjer ovanpå. Under handtagen, på den nedre kroppen, finns fem band av sex horisontella våglinjer. Tre vertikala våglinjer gränsar till den sista i en grupp av horisontella våglinjer.

Rettig, Nils (1892-10-18 - 1933-03-11), First Secretary

Description: Nils Rettig, born 1892, dead 11 March 1933.
Nils Robert Rettig was an official of the Swedish Foreign Office from 1920 to his death on 11 March 1933 in Egypt. He served in a number of countries with distinction, ending as First Secretary in the Swedish Legation in Cairo. He was interested in and bought antiquities from dealers in that city. A few of these were given by N. Rettig to the Egyptian Museum and the rest were acquired after his death from his brother Herbert Rettig.
Nils Rettig was the son of Hjalmar and Julia Rettig.
