- Object description
Long description:Top part of a dummy vessel. A slender, flaring neck with an angular transition to the lid. The rim has a circumscribing furrow.
The neck is painted black, with additional traces of white paint. The decoration has worn off in places, thus displaying the vessel’s original drab surface. The the lid has a polychrome decoration on an white ground. It features a cross, which is composed of two thick green bands, adjacent to these, in succession, are thinner white, yellow and red bands, delineated by black lines. The triangular spaces vacant outside of the cross were once filled in with white paint. The outer perimeter of the decoration is circumscribed by a thin yellow band, succeeded in turn by a white band, followed by a thicker green band and finally terminated by yet another thin white band. All bands are delineated by black lines. The rim has traces of alternating white and yellow vertical thick bands, as above, also delineated by black lines. A final layer on the lid and on the neck, exhibit traces of a thin red substance.
